Mark Trott-Head teacher

I have been head teacher of Ocklynge School since January 1999, having previously been head of a village school for nine years.

At Ocklynge we work hard to provide a high quality education in the basic subjects of English and Maths, but we think this is best achieved by providing a broad and balanced curriculum. In particular we allocate more time than most schools to sport, we have a strong programme of global citizenship with links to schools in other countries, we include lots of drama across the curriculum, we employ a specialist music teacher and we organise several special events linked to different areas of the curriculum.

Sandra Denton-Deputy Head teacher

I joined Ocklynge in September 2012 after having worked in the east end of London for thirteen years.

I am delighted to be part of this vibrant school and aim to support the many initiatives, which enable our pupils to enjoy a broad, balanced and stimulating curriculum.

My main passion is literature and I aim to expose children to good quality texts at every opportunity.  I have even been known to quote Shakespeare in P.E lessons!

Adam Wood-Head of Year 3

I have been head of year 3 since 2011 after being head of year 5 since Easter 2005 having previously worked as a class teacher at Ocklynge.

Prior to Ocklynge I worked as a secondary school link teacher in year 7 and before that in the primary sector.

Andy Fisher-Assistant Head (Inclusion)

I am responsible for managing all additional or special needs provision throughout the school.  This includes all learning, emotional, behavioural and physical needs.

My role, in partnership with all the staff, is to ensure the specific needs of any individual children are identified early and appropriate support is provided.  This additional support might take the form of an individual learning programme, extra adult support or a combination of both.  My intention is always to ensure that children feel included, have full access to an appropriate curriculum and make good progress.

I am a ‘designated teacher’, which means I am responsible for investigating and dealing with any child protection concerns.

I am also responsible for monitoring attendance.

Heather Godding-Head of Year 4

I have worked at Ocklynge since 2006, mainly in yr 4 and yr 5. I have worked at a number of schools and led a variety of curriculum areas.

My main interests are in literacy and drama although my favourite teaching topic is the Tudors. It must be all the chopping of the heads!

Sandra Taylor-Head of Year 5

I am currently acting head of year 5 and have been teaching at Ocklynge for more years than I care to mention! Most of my teaching career at Ocklynge has been as half of a job share as class teacher and PSHE co ordinator with Mrs Savage.

Before coming to Eastbourne I taught in a first school and then a middle school in Lancing.  My main interests are in Modern Foreign Languages and Literacy and I have enjoyed helping to integrate Spanish into the curriculum here.
